One approach, built around each person
Every participant arrives with different goals, needs and history. Our programs share the same foundation (horses, honesty, and peer support) and shape everything else around you.
How every program works
The horse leads the lesson
Horses respond to what you do and how you feel, right now. Their feedback is immediate, honest and free of judgment, so lessons land in a way words alone rarely do.
Peers walk beside you
Peer support means being guided by people who understand from experience. It’s respectful, practical and human, never clinical or condescending.
Goals are yours
We set goals together, revisit them as you grow, and celebrate progress. Sessions build on each other, and nobody is rushed.
Our programs
Children & families
For kids with cognitive, physical, intellectual, learning, or social-emotional differences, and the families who love them.
Veterans, first responders & military
Peer-led, low-pressure time with the herd for people who carry heavy loads for the rest of us.
Adults: peer support & recovery
For adults working through mental health challenges, addiction recovery, or life with a disability.
Is Heartland Heals a good fit?
Equine-assisted learning can help almost anyone, but it isn’t right for everyone at every moment. If you’re unsure, call us. We’ll talk it through honestly, and if we’re not the right fit, we’ll try to point you to someone who is.
Heartland Heals is not a crisis service. If you or someone you love is in crisis, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911.
Often a great fit if you…
- learn best by doing
- find traditional settings hard or intimidating
- want to build confidence, calm or social skills
- are in recovery and want healthy, structured activity
- love animals, or are curious about them
Let’s find your starting point
Tell us a little about who sessions are for, and we’ll take it from there.
