Adults: peer support & recovery
Whether you’re rebuilding after a hard season, working your recovery, or living with a disability the world doesn’t make easy, the barn is a good place to practise being steady.

What peer support means
A Certified Peer Specialist is someone with lived experience of recovery who is trained to support others on their own path. Peer support is built on mutual respect, shared understanding and hope. It isn’t someone above you telling you what to do; it’s someone beside you who has been there.
At Heartland Heals, peer support happens at the horse’s side, where it’s easier to be honest and harder to hide.
Recovery is practised, not just discussed
A horse responds to calm, consistent, honest energy, the same things recovery asks of us. Working with horses gives you a place to practise patience when you’re frustrated, boundaries when you’re pushed, and trust when it’s been broken. And you get immediate, judgment-free feedback when it’s working.

For adults of every ability
Adults with cognitive, physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities are warmly welcome. Group homes, day programs and support staff are welcome to ask about sessions, too. We’ll adapt activities so everyone can take part safely and meaningfully.
